Biography
Jessy Dixon (1938β2011) was an American gospel singer, songwriter, and pianist known for his dynamic style. Born in Texas, he moved to Chicago, where he was discovered by the "King of Gospel", James Cleveland, who sang & recorded his early songs. He gained fame after performing at the 1972 Newport Jazz Festival and collaborated with Paul Simon for eight years, appearing on several hit albums. Dixon wrote over 200 songs, recorded by artists like Amy Grant and Cher, and released over 20 albums, earning seven Grammy nominations.
